Portugal’s grid strategy is shifting from “first in the queue” to “first to prove you can be counted on.” DGEG’s latest security-of-supply monitoring flagged reliability risk across every future scenario without a capacity mechanism — and pv-magazine reported in June that Portugal is now designing a capacity market with a dedicated battery storage auction, targeting roughly 750 MVA.
